Cedar is a small, rural community established during the 1920’s about 10km south of downtown Nanaimo. Farther away from Nanaimo’s downtown, but the area is well known for its appeal to outdoor enthusiasts. Currently, there are a number of farms and large acreages; some of Cedar borders on the ocean including one of the nicest neighbourhoods, Cedar-By-The-Sea. Cedar is mostly rural but with a good mix of different types of properties in the neighbourhood; it is a great place for young families who want a quiet lifestyle. Homeowners interested in more luxurious homes can find amazing properties along the coast around Yellow Point. Amenities such as bank, grocery, pharmacy, and cafes can be found in the Cedar Village Square with restaurants, pubs, local farms, art galleries and the Cedar Farmers’ Market also close by.
