The Most Valuable Areas to Buy in Nanaimo
Our 30 years of experience in the Nanaimo Real Estate Market gives us insight into the best areas of Nanaimo to invest, whether it's finding your dream home, or getting maximum value.
1. Hammond Bay
Hammond Bay gives you access to a multitude of oceanview and oceanfront homes. Hammond Bay features many beach access points as well as walking trails along the ocean. This community focuses on oceanviews and as a result of homes being built on the hillside, views are unobstructed by homes below. Hammond Bay is also home to some of the most sought after schools in the district such as Frank J. Ney Elementary and Dover Bay Secondary.
2. Departure Bay
Departure Bay neighbours Hammond Bay and provides ocean and mountain views to it's residents. Oceanviews from Departure Bay look out towards Newcastle Island and the Departure Bay ferry terminal. Departure Bay Beach features a great beach walkway with a paved path as well as beach access to walk the beach and is great for beachcombing! This park also has some green space and a playground, making it a destination with something for everyone.
3. Lantzville
A common theme in this list is ocean access, and Latnzville is no different. Lantzville is a sub community of Nanaimo and has it's own small town feel. Lantzville's investment opportunities is in the form of new development, which includes the Lantzville Foothills project. The Foothills is located in Upper Lantzville and the developers have dedicated over 700 acres of land to parks, hiking and mountain bike trails. Lower Lantzville provides your ocean access and Seaview Elementary.
4. University District
University District offers a wide range of homes and there is currently a big focus on new development. For investment properties, University District is highly desirable for it's close proximity to Vancouver Island University. As a result, many homes in the area feature secondary suites and is our recommendation for people looking for an investment or mortgage helper. This area, just like the others, does have some areas with oceanviews and sits very close to Westwood Lake and many other beautiful hiking and leisure spots, such as Colliery Dam.
