Central Nanaimo Parks

Central Nanaimo has a range of different types of parks ranging from smaller neighbourhood parks to large community parks. The largest of these parks is Bowen Park. No matter what activities you want to plan for your day, Bowen Park is sure to have it! As one of Nanaimo's largest parks there is ample green space to enjoy as well as walking trails that give you views of the Millstone river and waterfalls that run through the park. There is also a beach volleyball court, disc golf course, tennis courts, lawn bowling, curling and a skate park! During the summer the city of Nanaimo organizes outdoor concerts and events that utilize the amphitheatre in the centre of the park. There is also an outdoor swimming pool where the Nanaimo White Rapids swim team practices during the warmer months. The covered picnic area is also a great place to plan outdoor gatherings.

Sitting in close proximity to the hospital is Beaufort Park. This park features an off-leash dog area that has become quite popular with residents of Central Nanaimo. There is also an area where the city converted old tennis courts into a more multipurpose space for basketball, tennis and pickle ball. The park also features a community garden and food forest.
