"If you are looking for an area where you can stay close to city amenities, while still being far enough away that you can live in a quiet neighborhood, you should be looking at homes for sale in Hammond Bay! Hammond Bay predominantly features single-family homes, however, there are also some townhome and condo developments in the area. Hammond Bay offers spectacular ocean views and green space, due to the natural hilly terrain, making Hammond Bay a hot spot for Nanaimo’s luxury real estate market. This also makes Hammond Bay a great community for walking and beach exploring."

Hammond Bay Parks

Pipers Lagoon

One of Nanaimo’s most popular walking destinations! Pipers features an abundance of trails that all have one thing in common – Viewpoints looking over the Strait of Georgia. Aside from walking trails, Pipers also features some beach spots that are great for watching the sun set or rise year round. Pipers is also a bird watcher’s paradise where you can catch a glimpse of eagles, blue herons, and many others!

Neck Point

Just a few minutes down the road from Piper’s Lagoon, is Neck Point. This park features many walking trails to choose from and spans over 36 acres of waterfront. Most of these trails wind through forested areas and pop out next to beaches and cliffs, providing many different vantage points. The far north point of the park is a great viewing area to check out the orcas and sea lions that come through the area, especially in January when the herring run comes through Nanaimo. Neck Point is also a popular location for divers due to the easy water access and vast marine life that is visible just off the shore. If cold water and diving aren’t your thing, Neck Point is also a very popular photography spot.

Fillinger Waterfront Park

Located in the heart of Hammond Bay is Fillinger Waterfront Park. This is a popular beach that is great for beachcombing and exploring. Use caution when the tide is out as the rocky beach has lots of seaweed to slip on, but the views are what living in Hammond Bay is all about. This beach offers unobstructed views of the ocean and most real estate behind you is hidden by the steep bank to the street above. This beach offers a unique experience to be so close to civilization, while still feeling like you’re in your own world. If you walk far enough down the beach, there are a few more beach accesses so there is lots to explore and see.
