South Nanaimo Real Estate
South Nanaimo is a very diverse neighbourhood. Stretching between the Old City, University District and Chase River areas, this neighbourhood has been undergoing extensive revitalization and growth. Its proximity to the downtown core makes this neighbourhood very attractive as new and older homes are still reasonably priced. Nanaimo’s South End also has a rich history in the development of the city, in the 1890s it was known as the South Ward and was home to working class families. Some of these heritage homes have been restored, adding to the neighbourhood’s unique character; however, new developments have popped up as large parcels of land owned by farmers have been subdivided into streets of newer homes. This is an area where you can still find affordable homes and good investment properties. South Nanaimo is close to the University Village Mall, which borders the University District and stretches south to Petroglyph Park.
